2008
- preparing to address the backlog of new benches not yet listed in the Benchmark Guide, but probably already in Flickr
- the end is in sight for transitioning my Benchmark Guide bench photographs to images stored on Flickr
- more photographs added to my Flickr page
2007
- beginning to pick up pace transitioning my Benchmark Guide bench photographs to images stored on Flickr
- more photographs added to my Flickr page
2006
October 2005
- began putting together something to replace the old Benchmark Guide challenge page … it's quite funny how it sometimes generates ludicrously easy challenges … I wonder whether I should I change it or leave it as is
- fixed some problems navigating the search criteria on Benchmark Guide
- began putting something together for my latest walking project, DC State by State
August 2005
- gathering a list of Hurricane Katrina links some with general focus and others about places where I know people or have spent time
- finished adding non-Washington DC benches to the Benchmark Guide
July 2005
June 2005
- secure order form finalized for ByronvonRosenberg.com
- my recovery from back surgery is going well and I'm back working on my websites again
but perhaps still not sitting down as much as I used to
April 2005
March 2005
- finally worked the kinks out of my database-queried, php-generated Benchmark Guide maps
(the ones below the reload button)
one for Washington, DC and one for the world
February 2005
- began to think that I don't want to spend the space on a reader participation capability for my Good Day Bad Day idea
- you aren't expecting me to put a note here everytime I make changes to my john pages are you
October 2004
- realizing I have things to do before year's end
- finished up second San Diego trip pages
- standardizing some things—hoping I don't break a URL
September 2004
- began working on reader participation capability for my Good Day Bad Day idea
- improved line-height and padding style settings within and between (respectively) the list items on all my john pages most noticable on my travel and quotes pages
- modified structure of my 2002 Road Trip
(I had appended new sections onto what had preceded using an internal link to position the reader at the point he would want to continue reading;
but this meant that someone using Google to find "abandoning my aging car in the Pacific Ocean" would get 34 links to the various combinations of rosy or bum paths through my story —
no longer so!)
- decided to use php scripting instead of internal links to simplify my john page content for you
… complete with random image use here and there (still working image caption and alt tag issues)
June, July & August 2004
- taking care of the odd fix here and there
- making mental notes of all the other stuff I'd like to get around to fixing
May 2004
March 2004
February 2004
January 2004
- realized that Google found my reading page because I linked to it on this page and I allow robots to spider through this page for links.
December 2003
November 2003
- replaced each ampersand in my links with a & so my html would validate
- thinking about replacing my image tags with object tags …
October 2003
- working on pages for my latest trip to San Deigo (only partially there and no guarantees as to future deletes or edits) and the possibility exists that I could do something to mess up my previous pages
- was told I had a misspelling on my latest trip to San Deigo pages, but I can't remember what the word was
- began using Opera 7.21 as my browser and was impacted by the image height bug
which only affects some of the images on my site because some are displayed as backgrounds
and anyway the image tag is on the way out, right?
August 2003
- trying to clean up some validation issues
- put back online my 2002 Road Trip—finally the way I've always wanted it to be
still need to fix some browser problems (IE6 doesn't display all of my images, Netscape 4.08 can't handle the php links if I leave the old index.shtml file in the same directory, Mozilla 1 and Opera 6 mess up the placement of a couple of the images)
July 2003
- began removing borrowed images in favor of no images or ones I have permission to use
(I need to get some sort of copyright info/usage policy up on my site)
- began working on an account of my ongoing attempt to walk all the state avenues in DC (walked so far: WI, MA, AL and PA)
April 2003
March 2003
February 2003
- changing my e–mail links to unicode characters:
jw@vonr.com
in hopes that SPAMmers can't as easily pull them into their databases (I heard it might help, I didn't think it could hurt and it wasn't much work)
- began to give attention to finalizing many half–finished projects
- as always, many updates to John's Page
